A small group of people in Texas leaves for a camping trip, only to find them caught up in the start of World War 3. Knowing their only hope of survival was to reach a safe haven in the mountains of North Carolina. Two members of the party work for the railroad and the decision is made to take a train and head east. Along the journey, the group encounters fellow survivors and rouge bands of marauders.
The story is that of average people thrust into ultimate battle of survival not only of good verses evil but also of the elements of nature. To survive the group combines talent from people from all ages, backgrounds and walks of life.

SINCE IT IS POST APOCALYPTIC FICTION, SOME OVER THE TOP SITUATIONS ARE TO BE EXPECTED, BUT I DON'T THINK THAT SHOULD EXTEND TO GRAMMAR, SPELLING, PUNCTUATION AND VOCABULARY. DESCRIPTIONS OF RAIL PROCEDURES AND NOMENCLATURE ARE ENOUGH TO CONVINCE ME OF THE WRITER'S KNOWLEDGE OF SUCH OR AT LEAST ENOUGH TO FOOL ME. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WAS WEAK THOUGH THE PREMISE OF RAIL ESCAPE IS A NEW TWIST IN THIS GENRE. THIS BOOK HELD SUCH PROMISE BUT FAILED MISERABLY IN EXECUTION. PROOF READING AND EDITING ARE APPARENTLY NON EXISTENT IN THE WORLD OF E BOOKS. WHILE I HAVE MY FAILURES IN THE MECHANICS OF WRITING, I DON'T PRESENT MYSELF TO THE PUBLIC AS AN AUTHOR.Product details

While it has a great story line, the continuity was interrupted time after time due to errors in spelling, vocabulary, punctuation. There is just no excuse! Stop depending on spell-check and pay a high school English student with a dictionary to proof read for you.
Great story BUT need lots of editing & vocabulary corrections ( examples of wrong words; Herd instead of heard. Concentrated instead of consternation )
What a grand book information gallore..The whole concept of traveling by train ..i love it..this book has so much to offer.
If you enjoy post apocalyptic books like I do then Survival Train is a book for you. An entertaining look into the "what if" set in post WWIII America, Survival Train represents a unique angle that I haven't experienced in other novels. Pros Great story line and characters. Cons The book is riddled with grammatical, tense and punctuation errors. The only reason I didn't give the book 5 stars is that these errors interrupt the flow of an otherwise great read.
I have been a fan of post-apocalyptic stories ever since seeing Red Dawn as a kid. Since then, I have read countless books using these types of story lines and love it when an author can put something original into the mix. Author Steve Flowers has definitely done this with "Survival Train". The story of a group of campers in Texas, who get blindsided by the start of World War III. They decide to make a run for the North Carolina mountains and to do so by train. What follows is a harrowing journey across the countryside and an amazing fight for survival. A really great read.
